Removal / Cutting of Plaster (Cast) from My Ankle on 14th June 25

Since 10th June 25, I have started pushing my suspicion also whether the bone fracture has been fixed or not. I have tested it by putting some weight on my left leg. I didn’t feel any pain after pushing. I assumed that all is Ok. My mother-in-law frequently says that you need to believe in yourself and not have doubts.

The date for cast removal given by the doctor was 15th June’25, but it was Sunday, so I have decided to go for it on the day before. There was a lot of uneasiness on the 13th, and I want to get rid of the plaster as it has become an inconvenience to me after no activity for 1 month.

Now, I started realising how old people think and behave when they are immobile for days, weeks and years. And most of the elderly people pray to God to take them away to heaven and let them leave this physical body. It is quite painful mentally to bear all this trauma. Let god be kind to everyone, and no one bear it.

Anyway, I was thinking what to do after the cast removal. Do I need to go to physiotherapy or not? All those thoughts were coming to my mind.

I have already instructed Mr Driver Mr Shobha Ram to arrive on time (9:30 AM) to take me to the doctor. But at the right time, he called me and told me there is an issue with the vehicle, so he is to repair the car. I thought he was making some excuse so that he would not come on Saturday. I booked a taxi, accompanied by my son Abhiraj, and arrived at Dr Aseem Goyal Clinic by 10:30 AM. Later, the driver called me to say that his vehicle is ok now and he is coming, so I asked him to come to the clinic at Sector 27 directly.

The doctor did not call me inside his chamber rather asked his assistant to remove the plaster/cast. So one of his assistants (female) has started cutting the plaster with the cutter machine. The cutting machine was not working properly (I assumed this) as its teeth were not sharp enough to cut properly. I was suspicious that it might go inside my skin by mistake after breaking the plaster. She was joined by another assistant shortly. This took a lot of time, and they were not able to remove the plaster. So the lady doctor, who is the Wife of Dr. Aseem Goyal, has approached me, and she also started helping the other two 2assistants. Three 3 ladies, including the doctor, have made cuts on the plaster after a lot of efforts and techniques that were used by them, now all 3 started pushing towards each opposite side, so that some space may come up. And they asked me, draw the feet outside. Since my ankle was coming open after one month, I was curious to see what it looked like. I have been suspecting a lot of things to be there on my ankle. You may look at the condition of the foot in the image displayed below. And this was the first image that I took after the plaster was removed. The lady doctor is a physician (MD). She advised me to put my feet in hot water at least 2 times a day for at least 10 minutes and then apply the coconut oil all over them.

After the removal of the plaster, the assistant took me to the X-ray machine room, as directed by orthopaedic Dr. Asim Goyal. She has taken an X-ray of 2 sides in a film. When the film was ready and she handed it over to the doctor inside his chamber. Shortly, Dr Aseem Goyal called me to come inside. Immediately on arrival in the chamber of doctor, he started giving instructions to me after typing the medicines and the precautions that were required. But in my mind, it was curious to know whether my joint had been fixed or not. So I asked the doctor about my joint, and he told me that the hairline fracture has been fixed up and there is no issue now, but you need to take precautions for a few days. So he recommended 8 days of rest (but I don’t have permission to leave the office, so it was not that useful). He instructed me to wear the ankle jointer, which was like a sock, and it could be worn on the ankle. He asked me to wear it whenever you are walking on the floor, otherwise I don’t need to wear it while I am sitting on the bed or sofa. And he also advised me to apply the coconut oil, along with washing the ankle with warm water at least 2 times a day.

After all the instructions of the doctor, I came out of the chamber of doctor and handed over the prescription slip to the receptionist, who was also having charge of medicines that were available at the doctor’s clinic. So I asked them to give me a month’s medicines as recommended by the doctor, and when they gave me the medicines, I asked for giving me the bill receipt. I paid ₹2717, and came out and called the driver to park the vehicle in front of a clinic so that I could sit easily in the vehicle. After boarding the vehicle, I came straight away to my house, and after getting up one floor, I opened the door and went inside the house and told everything to my Wife and Mother-in-Law. So immediately, I put my ankle in the warm water for a few minutes, and then applied the coconut oil. In this process, my Mother-in-Law helped me in applying the coconut oil. She is very sweet.

Now, I was feeling quite relieved as my ankle was free. Though I was feeling some sensation on the motion below my feet? But I was assured that it would take little time and everything would be set, right?

So the whole day I felt the sensation on my foot and some kind of pain also on my calf and ankle. But sensation was very high whenever I started to a walk, and it was quite irritating for me to bear this, but nothing comes instantly, so I have to wait.

So this was the activity of the Day when my plaster was cut, and I am writing this after 8 days of this event. Now, I feel relieved of most of the problems that I faced just after the plaster cut. Now, I am feeling a little uneasy around my ankle.

During the period of my ankle joint fracture and my wife’s knee tibia bone fracture, the support of the office was outstanding. I would take the name of my boss, Mr Gurjiner Paul Singh (DDG), who is a very supportive officer, and I don’t have words to express my gratitude for him. Next is my subordinate, Mr Aman Mahajan (AD), who has given all types of support, including logistics. Other officers such as Chetan Sharma (Director DIU), LSA Head Mr AK Ranjan, and all others have supported me a lot, and because of them only, I could manage the office also from home in an efficient manner. I am thankful to all of them and those whose names are not appearing here.
